Yoga When You Sit at a Desk All Day
There is something slightly strange about spending most of the day sitting down and then wondering why your body feels stiff.
You sit at your laptop.
Then you sit in a meeting.
Then you sit down for lunch.
Then you're back at your laptop.
By the end of the day, your shoulders may feel tight, your hips may feel tired and your body can feel like it has barely moved.
You don't need to turn your lunch break into a full workout to change that.
Sometimes you simply need to move.
A short yoga practice can give you a reason to step away from your screen and pay attention to your body for a little while.
You might move your spine through different positions, stretch your legs, open through your shoulders or simply stand up and breathe.
And there's another part that can be easy to forget: the pause.
Work doesn't always give us natural stopping points anymore. Remote working in particular can blur the line between your working day and your personal time.
A 30-minute class creates a boundary.
You leave your desk.
You move.
You breathe.
And then you return.
It doesn't have to be complicated.
So if you've been sitting for hours, don't wait until your body is desperate for movement.
Give yourself a little space earlier.
Your practice doesn't need to be perfect.
It just needs to get you out of the chair.
