Yoga Doesn't Have to Be Another Thing on Your To-Do List

There are already enough things competing for your attention.

Drink more water.

Exercise more.

Sleep better.

Eat well.

Answer your emails.

Call your mum.

Remember the dentist appointment.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, you're supposed to “find time for yourself”.

It can start to feel like self-care is another job.

Yoga shouldn't feel like that.

Your practice doesn't need to become another box you have to tick.

You don't have to practise every day.

You don't have to complete a particular programme.

You don't have to become “good at yoga”.

Instead, think of yoga as somewhere you can go for a little while.

Thirty minutes where you don't need to produce anything.

You can move.

You can breathe.

You can notice how you feel.

And then you can leave the mat behind.

Some days your practice might be energetic.

Some days it might be slow.

Some days you might spend more time sitting and breathing.

And some days you might decide that rest is what you actually need.

That's part of the practice too.

Small things count.

Thirty minutes counts.

One deep breath counts.

Taking a proper lunch break counts.

Choosing to stop for a moment counts.

Yoga doesn't need to take you away from real life.

It just needs to give you a little more space inside it.

30 minutes. Every day. Your practice, your way.
