Evening Yoga: A Better Way to End the Day
There's a particular kind of tiredness that comes at the end of a busy day.
Your body is tired, but your mind is still going.
You finish work and immediately start thinking about dinner.
You check one more email.
You scroll through your phone.
You remember something you forgot to do.
And suddenly it's bedtime, but you don't really feel like you've stopped.
An evening yoga practice can create a small space between your day and your night.
It doesn't have to be intense.
In fact, you may prefer something slower in the evening.
Gentle movement can help you release some of the physical tension you've accumulated during the day. A few quiet minutes of breathing or meditation can also give your mind something else to focus on.
The aim isn't to force yourself to relax.
It's simply to slow things down.
You might notice your breathing.
Feel your feet on the floor.
Move your shoulders.
Stretch your back.
Lie down for a few minutes without needing to achieve anything.
And then you're done.
There is something lovely about ending the day by doing less rather than trying to squeeze one more thing into it.
You don't have to finish the day perfectly.
You just need a little space to come back to yourself.
